The Boss App: Not So Quick Start (Rookies)
Register Your E-mail Address
Registration is simple and fast. Simply enter and confirm your e-mail address in the form. You'll recieve a confirmation e-mail
including an activation link. Click that link, and you're ready to move on to the next step. You
must activate your account before
you are able to use The Boss App in a
ahem.. productive manner. So, take a second, and one last look at the world of
frantic clicking and minimizing facebook to a taskbar that doesn't hide it very well anyway.
The Boss App PC-Setup
From the
Download page, you can find the Windows PC Installer Package. Installing The Boss App on your PC is literally
about a 3 click process.
Click on the download link, and a dialog box similar to this (depending on which browser you are using) will appear.
Select Run or Save when prompted. If you save the file, run the executable from where it
was downloaded to.
The Installer will open, click Next
Once the Installer has completed, click Finish
Congratulations! The Boss App has been installed on your PC. Now, I'm sure by this time you may need a break. You've probably
done more work here than George Jetson does in a week, and you must be exhausted. But, don't give up now, because you're almost there.
The Boss App Smartphone-Setup
Installing the mobile device portion of The Boss App is even easier than the
Windows Application. Simply visit our
downloads page
and pick the right installer for the phone you have (Android or Apple). Or, you can to the Android Market/iPhone App Store
Store and find it there. Installation is pretty much an automatic process, all you'll have to do
is enter your e-mail address used to register here the first time you open the application.
Now that you have The Boss App installed on your phone and computer, Here's the fun part.
Double-click the
circle icon in the system Tray. It looks like this

.
This icon, when double-clicked, opens up the controller for The Boss App and looks like this.
This is the official controller for The Boss App and where the magic happens.
Once you have the application window open, the first
thing you
must do is enter and save your registered e-mail address. Beneath that, you'll see a list with every
window you have open on your PC with checkboxes next to them.
This list is constantly refreshing, so any
new window you open will appear
unchecked without you having to do anything.
Select all boxes of the
Windows you would like
to keep open. Most likely part of the office suite or some other work related project.
Anything you would want your boss to see that makes you look productive. Once you have finished, click apply and
The Boss App will minimize back to the system tray with a boss icon and a warning message that says...
When you see this warning, and this icon, you know that
you've set the controller correctly.
Navigate to The Boss App on your phone. If you haven't already, now would be the time to enter your e-mail address,
if you already have all you have to do is tap the button that says "Turn On Boss Watch Mode." You'll get a countdown screen
like this...
This is the final countdown. At this point you should already have the Windows on your PC set to stay open,
and you should already have The Boss App Watch Mode running in your system tray.
That's it, we're ready to test out the fruits of your labor. Open up a few extra windows until you feel
like you've lost control of your Desktop.
If your boss walks in with your screen like this...
All you have to do is move, slide, spin, bump, twist, bounce, throw, lift or even just nudge your phone
a little bit to get this.
A clean, productive, professional desktop.
Once you have used The Boss App to hide your unworkly windows, and your boss has left the room, of course,
all you have to do is click on the icon in the system tray again and The Boss App will restore everything back
to the way it was. Then to activate it again simply right-click the icon, set it to ON, and start the countdown
on your phone again.
So there you have it. With The Boss App you're finally able to be professionally
unproductive.
Don't forget though, you still have a job to do, and we at TheBossApp.com absolutely do not condone
fooling around on the job, and take no responsibility for what you do with your own time on the clock.
